Boring would be good!

Once again I begin by saying we are safe, our home is safe, our friends are safe, and our friends homes are safe. It feels like a miracle that I can say this!

This morning we woke up to this view:

That street you see on the bottom of the picture is the street our house is on. And the smoke looks much closer than it actually is. But it startled us nonetheless!

Yesterday my husband was evacuated from work when the fire came down a little finger of canyon, so that was excitement we could have lived without! But his work is safe, and it is business as usual there today.

We are not having business as usual at our home, and it has nothing to do with the fires. We took Miss Pear to the doctor this morning for an allergic reaction, and she is indeed allergic to one family of antibiotics now, so that is disappointing. However the part that has me chewing my nails was that when they listened to her heart they heard something that was not there last week and they heard it immediately. We even had a second opinion. So we are being referred to a pediatric cardiologist, and we see him tomorrow morning. Our doctor said that if we did not get in today or tomorrow we were to call her and she would get us in. So while I am trying to remain calm, and remind myself that these things can appear when the body is fighting stuff off (like illness and hives), my mommy heart is freaking out.

Fortunately our Lord is Sovereign and understands our fears!

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:15-16

Friend... praying even now!!!

I don't know if you read the precious promise at My Quiet Corner this week, but here it is...

Deuteronomy 31:8

(KJV) "And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed."

(NLT) "Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you."

Be encouraged as you are not walking this journey alone!! God is not pacing heaven in anticipation of the outcome. He has already gone before you and will not abandon!

Keep us posted!

My "baby" brother is a Marine at Camp Pennedleton there in California, and he lives in Oceanside, so my prayers are with both your and his family.

When my oldest daughter was 3, they found a sound in her heart. It had not been there during all of her other well-baby and child visits, so she was immediately sent to a pediatric cardiologist for an ultrasound. It turned out to be a harmless flapping of the valve, nothing to worry about. I pray that your situation is similar.

How scary! I've been watching the fires on the news.
Even scarier-your little girls health situation. I'll be praying!

We have been through both allergies and heart issues. Our youngest had terrible food allergies...I think I blogged about it 20 times earlier this summer! Our middle daughter had a harmless heart murmur that is slowing going away with time. Praying for you, though, as this is a difficult thing to go through! God will use this to strengthen your faith in Him and His plan for your daughter's life.
