So we heard back on the very reasonable offer we made on the house we thought was the one for us. One agent said it was a reasonable offer, and the other agent of the double list was rude to our agent up there and down here, and scoffed at us and our offer, and the counter offer basically came down $3000.
Which means they did not take us or our offer seriously at all.
And it is clear she told the client what she thought rather than facilitating the offers, so we are likely not going to get anywhere with her in the drivers seat and not the clients.
So I guess now we have to decide if it is worth making a counter offer at the top of our range that they will likely scoff at as well, or just move to plan B house, which we don't like as much, but at least it is a house.

i would suggest you keep looking. there is always a house available. my husband and i have been looking for a house we could afford now for 4 1/2 years. we have made so many offers on "the perfect house for us" that i can't even count them all. there was always another house that ended up being just as great and just as "perfect" just a little later in the looking. all of the offers have either been turned down or the contract fell through on another point. we still are looking, but as we go on and on, we see that where we were looking is not where God wanted us. we are still looking, and we are actually thinking about moving again. we are still renting, but it would be great in this next move if the Lord sees fit to allow us to find a place to buy! who knows??? i guess God does, huh? all that to say, you will find another house just as perfect a little further down the road. don't settle for something you don't like. you can also pray that the Lord changes your mind about the plan B house and lets you like it a lot more than you do now. hope this helps.
Great points!
However, we are in a time bind. We have sold our town home 80 miles away and now need to find a place to live or we will have no home to speak of!
There are almost no homes in our price range up there, we had narrowed it down to 2 as the rest were scary neighborhoods or needed major renovations (as in knocking out exterior walls).
We move mid june whether we want to or not!
I know how disappointed you must feel. Praying for THE house to be made clear to you a.s.a.p.
Blessings,
~Toni~
House hunting is so frustrating espeically in this market. Could the agent be bluffing? She did come down a bit, maybe she's just using reverse psychology...trying to get you to want it more because it's hard to get. It can't hurt to try again, all she can do is scoff again, and that's her problem.
