Plan to be sick.
We all know cold and flu season is right around the corner, and we all have nights we sleep horribly and feel like zombies the next day. We moms have weeks of sick children, and sometimes even husbands!
This is going to happen eventually, and cold and flu season is on the horizon, so start planning for it:
- Check your medicine cabinet and throw out everything that is expired.
- Make a list of everything you need and start watching for sales and coupons.
- Create a reading stash for all who need it - 1 or 2 books each will do it.
- For little ones consider having a DVD or surprise of some sort tucked away.
- Have some quick meals in the freezer or ingredients for a super quick meal in the pantry (and make a list.)
- While you are in your pantry, check to see what you need - favorite canned soups? juices? crackers? Add it to the list to watch for sales!

Absolutely wonderful planning! How about not overscheduling your life so you can get enough rest so you're less likely to get sick or if you do get sick, give yourself time to recover.
Great reminder to restock medicine cabinet.
don't forget tissues for each bedroom..:)

That's such a great idea. It's terrible when you get sick and the other one needs to run out and buy medicine at FULL price! Now, if only I could get my husband to actually TAKE medicine when he's sick...
Great idea! I was actually feeling a little sick earlier and I was thinking "What am I going to do if I get sick? I have blah, blah, and blah to do."
I've done this for years! But, I have gotten lazy over time as my girls have gotten older, so this is a good reminder. It use to drive me nuts when someone in my house was sick and I would have find a way to run the store! Another tip is always keep Sprite (or clear liquid), Poweraide, crackers, jello and cans of chicken soup around, that has saved me on more than one occasion! One more, is pack a small tub of supplies of medicines and "feel good" food, to take with you on trips. I've had kids throwing up in my car, more times than I can count and that medicine tub has helped so much!
Ditto on the Kleenex and possibly the paper towels. How timely for us--Boo started the sick cycle early this year on Friday night, Roo's complaining started last night & sleep deprivation is working it's magic on me...sigh Does this mean we will be immune to the next waves?
Very good ideas! I learned the hard way a few years ago just how important it is to have some meals set aside in the freezer.
One thing I like to do when I feel a cold first coming on is to make a huge pot of veggie soup. It's super easy, so it's minimal effort. Then, I have plenty of healthy food for when I'm down and out. It also freezes really well.
Smart lady! Ha, ha, I thought you were going to tell us to expose our kids to sick kids so we get it all over with. Maybe you should have said, "Plan for being sick," LOL!
How about having your doctor and Rx numbers handy?
And popsicles or squeeze pops to soothe sore throats.
Take your vitamins to keep your resistance up, and eat as healthy as you can.
If you're daring, a teaspoon of vinegar will kill sore throat pain almost instantly...but it tastes just awful!
We could, of course, pray to stay healthy!
