Oh, Miss Pear

Miss Pear is 21 months old, and is a little ray of sunshine, she always makes me laugh.

Last night she announced a new word -- bath time. Okay, so it sounded more like ba-time, but that is okay. When it is bath time, she gets her towel and facecloth, takes them into the bathroom, and places them on the counter then looks at you to do your part - start the water. Once the water is running she will allow you to get her ready for her bath, but the water must be running first.

Today in the scorching heat we decided that we had to water the flower beds out back - this is not a big deal because we live in a town home with a postage stamp sized yard that faces North, and was therefore in the shade. While we were watering Miss Pear was helping. I would put water in her bucket and she would dump it. Unfortunately she still only dumps stuff towards her - like when she pours water on herself in the bath tub. So by the time we were done, we were all laughing very hard, and Miss Pear was all wet. It was so cute and fun. When we removed her wet clothes water literally poured out of her shoes!

We had so much fun.

Backlog

Hi,

So when I decided to start blogging I had this backlog of ideas and thoughts and stuff.

I also want to play Works for me Wednesdays with Mrs. Dryer. Okay, maybe I only have two ideas, but I am not telling yet.

Any how, once I get it all out of my system you won't see me on the weekends unless something really good happens, which it often does, and I may not be creative enough to post every weekday, because why post nothingness? But fun stuff usually happens, after all, I live with Mr. and Miss Pear. Miss Pear alone is likely good for a daily post! Remind me to tell you about today.....

So while Mr. Pear is gone, and I am all alone, I will get some of these ideas out. So if you see a lot of posts between now and Tuesday night, please don't get the idea that I will be one of those prolific and profound bloggers, I just have a backlog to get out! And if I write it down, it is out of my head, and it is getting crowded in there!

Because business travel is always fun....

...or maybe not.

I have only had the misfortune of traveling once for business. I was required to fly from Southern California to Appleton, Wisconsin for two days of extremely boring meetings that served no valuable purpose. The lowest point was that my flight was delayed overnight in Minneapolis, the highlight was touring the factory floor where the product I purchased was made (printed circuit board assemblies for computer mainframe and server purposes). The tour was interesting, but it strikes me as sad that was the highlight.

So with this wonderful view of business travel, I tell you the story of the start of Mr. Pear's business trip.

Mr. Pear's boss, Andrew, and another gentleman are flying out of one airport and taking a flight that makes an additional stop, therefore their flight takes longer. Mr. Pear is leaving on a later flight, and is going direct, so they will get there at the same time, or at least they will now.

When Mr. Pear picked up his cell phone to make sure it was charged, there was a message from Andrew, their flight was delayed, and may be canceled. The trip might be off (woo hoo!!!!...I mean...oh never mind). However, because we were not certain, Mr. Pear left for the airport with the shuttle that was booked.

I was very hopeful that the trip would be canceled, but when Mr. Pear got to the airport he called his bosses cell phone, and they were just boarding the plane.

Oh darn.

So now, theoretically, all three will be meeting at the other end, and then driving just across the mexican border tonight in order to be at the plant first thing in the morning.....

The good news is that he will be back Tuesday night!

Thank You!

Thank you for all the sweet, encouraging and comforting comments.

I honestly thought that I would just start typing away, and maybe in the first week a person or two would stop by, but that would be it. I am so blessed that so many stopped by and also left comments that blessed me tremendously!

Your words have soothed my hurts and both encouraged and strengthened me.

Thank you so much.

It is interesting to me that so many have commented on God's peace being given to us because He is giving us such peace! We are by no means spiritual giants that we have it, rather it is a gift from the Lord!

I joke that God must look at us as a bunch of toddlers as we all want it our way immediately...sooner if possible. Although I am certain this just refers to me, that everyone else is much farther along than this! :-)

Any way, I have some thoughts roaming around in my head about God's peace, and a couple other thoughts I have had reading scriptures this past week - not all sad and depressing, when we were sharing this with our pastor on Thursday's visit he thought we were hysterical - you can totally tell we both have worked with Jr. High age students in Bible Studies just by the way we explain scripture. We have the utmost respect for God's Word, but in trying to apply it to life and understand it our perspective is often one that makes people laugh. So hopefully while Mr. Pear is on his business trip this week (just two nights, thank you Jesus that it is not longer!) I will get some of that out.

Thank you so much for being so sweet to me, it means a tremendous amount to me!

May God bless you richly

Each little step

It always surprises me how I dread doing something only to have it turn out not so bad.

I was not looking forward to a pastoral visit we had scheduled on Thursday, and would have canceled it if Pastor Ray were not on our doorstep when the thought occurred to me, and I was so blessed through the visit, like cool refreshing water was poured directly into my soul.

Well, this morning was another event I was looking to get out of. Dear friends of ours welcomed their second child, a sweet baby boy to the world two weeks and 1 day ago. We had wanted to go to the hospital and visit, but I was recovering from the stomach flu, and Miss Pear had rotavirus, so that did not happen, and then our events happened, and here we are, two weeks later and we had not seen baby Dave yet.

So this morning we packed up our baby gift for Dave, a frozen meal for the family, and a book for David's big sister Abby (too great a gift, we found Abigale the Happy Whale! Abby loves her name in the title) and our stuff and headed out.

Fortunately they live about a 2 minute drive away, but it is downhill all the way there and uphill all the way home, so we drove, and that did not give me much time to think about it.

But as much as I was dreading the visit, we had a great time! Abby and Miss Pear are 4 months apart and love to play together, so they had a great time, and us adults just sat and chatted about stuff while baby Dave slept happily in Mom's arms.

So it was not as hard as I thought it would be, and I feel much better for having done it!

I don't know why I dreaded it, I certainly do not begrudge my dear friend her child! I guess I was just afraid it was all going to be too much for me, but God was gracious and it was a lovely time of fellowship instead!

And we have a great picture of Miss Pear and Abby sitting side by side.

Sitting with the question

This is the post I really wanted to post today, not all the other stuff, even though that was important too.

This past week and a bit has been hard. We went from expecting baby number 2 back to hoping to have another child one day. And it was hard. We had prayed for this child, talked about seeing him or her in September, and had begun making plans.

And then it was over.

We found out in the doctors office at our 10 week appointment last Wednesday, so immediately we were blessed with honest, accurate information about what had happened, was happening and was going to happen.

When our heart was breaking, God protected us from wrong thinking.

God provided for us in the sense that my mom was coming down to help as I had been so sick. Now she would care for Miss Pear while I had a D&C as things were not progressing on their own.

God helped us last Thursday with the comfort of knowing Miss Pear was cared for, an excellent surgeon and nurses, and and anesthesiologist who could actually get an IV in me first shot (highly unusual). God blessed Mr. Pear when our doctor told him everything went perfectly. God blessed me when I was in recovery and could not swallow without great pain. I asked Him for my nurse. She was there within a minute or two. God has blessed us with recovery and comfort.

Interestingly enough, we are not questioning God in this, it is more a case of choosing to trust Him regardless and trying to find Him in the midst of this. Knowing that I will not hold this baby this side of heaven does not seem fair, but I am trusting God in spite of this.

It is a case of understanding that we have questions about this, but being confident enough in God and His love for us to sit with the questions and be okay with that.

And being so thankful for Miss Pear.

Because life is always easy.....

or maybe not.

I no sooner got Miss Pear down for a nap (which she protested because she is a bit under the weather and has clearly picked up on the emotional undercurrent in our house...more about that later), the kitchen is a mess because Miss Pear can now reach the entire counter if she gets a chair so everything is piled on the bar between the kitchen and dining room, the sink is full of dishes from bread making - sour dough bread is done, whole wheat rolls (from the More-With-Less Cookbook ) are rising. And there was a toy explosion in the living room. Not quite sure about that.

So Miss Pear is napping, and I am resting because my energy is still lagging, and the phone rings. It is an agent asking to show our home this evening.

"Oh, of course," I say in my most encouraging voice as I gulp and look around the house.

So apparently, if you want to show your house, do many different projects in the morning, and rest before cleaning them up. Works every time.

Lord, please help me get ready, it will only happen with your help!

So here we are....

....with a blog I said I would never have posting for people I don't know...well, don't know yet.

I say this because I have no intention of telling people I know that I blog, at least not for a very long time, and I have no intention of actually revealing my real name! Gasp! I guess I just worry about that band of thieves finding out who I am and where we live so that they know when we are gone to visit our house!

I know that I do not write all pretty like Sarah or write with a sweet southern accent like Boomama, or write all inspiring like momrn2, but I just need a place to put my thoughts, to think out loud.

You see, a lot is going on. My husband has a new job - well 5 months old now, and it is a really good job that he likes, is good at, and they like him. But it is 80 miles away. So 4 days out of 5 he is driving an hour and a half each way, assuming no traffic snaffus, and one day a week he telecommutes. We are trying very hard to sell our house, but no takers. God has clearly confirmed to us that Mr. Pear is at the right job, so now we wait, and trust Him.

Our daughter, Miss Pear, is very sweet, and is 21 months old. She loves the days Daddy is home with us, and the days it is just the two of us is my helper.

We were expecting baby number 2, but at our 10 week appointment found out that our baby was not moving and had no cardiac activity, and that was last week. So I think that is what has prompted me to need an outlet to write.

Me? Well, I am 31. I left a professional career in supply chain management for the best job in the world, wife and mother! I love the Lord and want to live to honor and glorify Him. I try hard, and frequently fall on my face, but He picks me up, dusts me off, and we start off again. This blog will just be about what is going on in my life (usually lots of baking and play time), what God is teaching me and doing in my life, and what I am thinking.

I have been posting comments on other blogs under my first name, Kristy, but will slowly stop and just call myself Mrs. Pear.
