One thing I love about the New Year - besides the fact that we order Chinese food for supper to celebrate its arrival and then spend New Year's Day watching the Rosebowl Parade and the NHL Winter Classic - is thinking about my priorities and my goals.
As I write this it is not New Year's yet, but I am starting to think about my goals. Actually I am thinking about where I want to be, what I want to accomplish so I can then set meaningful goals.
Here is what I have so far for my reading goals:
- Read the Bible twice this year (I am making my own reading plan for this, it is half done, and I need to finish it ASAP)
- Read 1 Biography a month - I am saying 1 because sometimes finding good ones will make even this a challenge - post your recommendations!
- Read 1 Spiritually Challenging book a month.
- Read good books in between!
What are you reading? Do you have any suggestions for me?

Currently reading "God is Closer than you Think" by John Ortberg. Andy Stanley's "The Grace of God" is waiting in the wings.
For a list of good books go to the reading tab on my blog. Many great titles there (in my opinion)... and most of them I've checked out from the local library.
Happy Reading...
Sounds good! I love that the new year is such a great chance to think about where I am and what I can do better.
Biographies I've liked are The Story of My Life by Helen Keller and The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin by, well, Benjamin Franklin. I also love reading (auto)biographies of my favorite authors. Oh, and there's a book called Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl, a food critic/editor. It's fascinating and hilarious. I'm not sure it's a biography—probably more of a memoir, since it covers only the time she spent as a food critic for the NY Times.
I am working my way through the Bible again as well. I read a lot online - history, Christian reflections, and other non-fiction, but I hope to begin reading Jean Plaidy books again. She has written some wonderful historical fiction(never dry) of kings and queens, mostly British.
